Watford 3:1 QPR

I thought Tom Cleverly was very good for them and deserved his goal at the end.

It was a limp performance all around and I didn’t think Watford were that fancy either. But what it showed was when there were any moments of quality from them, we couldn’t deal with it.

It was a lovely goal from Patrick Agyemang. Not only was it an excellent finish, but the delivery from Alejandro Faurlin was out of this world. I thought Faurlin and Borrowdale played well. Pat did alright too and his two goals in recent games will have hopefully done him good.

Rowan Vine is still looking a long way away from the player he once was and I really hope it’s just because he’s still finding his feet. There’s only one player in my mind who managed to so intelligently change his game after a series of career threatening injuries and that was Alan Shearer. But there aren’t so many of those types of legends around with that kind of class and determination, so it’s a big ask.

The rest of the performance I have to say was pretty limp to say the least. We lacked any sort of rhythm or tempo and some of the passing was simply not good enough. I didn’t think Watford did anything spectacular either, but whenever they did show a rare moment of quality they scored.

The distribution from the back and the quality and choice of passing is plaguing us really. It’s definitely a blip and we need to ride it out. There’s no hiding that it’s been a very disappointing period for us and we’ve got to pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and get on with it.

A lot was made about Patrick Agyemang’s lack of celebration when he scored too and although I have no idea what the real reasons were, my initial impression was just that he was a tad bit embarrassed that we’d taken the lead against the run of play.

The positive is our recent turn of form hasn’t really affected Faurlin, who showed good moments of intelligence and quality when needed on the night. West Brom away will not be easy. But no game in this division is, right?
