QPR 0:0 Reading

Liam Miller put in an excellent performance in the midfield, showing plenty of deft touches and control backed up with the type of one touch passing quality that you’d expect to see from a Premiership player. I asked myself why he wasn’t still at that level and what made the likes of Sunderland and clubs before mainly use him in their reserves?

Marlborough 1:6 QPR Ladies Reserves

I’m particularly pleased with how the players are responding to the information we are giving them at the moment. If something isn’t quite working the way we think it should be, they’re taking our feedback on board and trying to work it out on the pitch. Once we worked out what we needed to do here we took control of the match and swung the game totally in our favour and put in a really excellent performance in the second half.

This season I’ll be wearing Abbott on my back

It has taken me a wee while to get hold of the home shirt. First the club shop went out stock of XL and above in adult size, which was a bit of a pain when told they wouldn’t be getting any more in. After some additional demand, 300 more were ordered for the club shop so I reserved one of those. Unfortunately there was a mix up though and my shirt was sold by mistake!

So after some faffing about and waiting for a mail order to come in with a shirt just for me, I finally have it and this one carries the name of Susannah Abbott on the back.

Susannah joined the ladies this season and is currently strutting her stuff down our left flank. If she were a bloke you’d say she’d be the perfect solution for England’s problems down the left of midfield!

She’s possesses a terrific attitude, is very professional, has great experience and is a top player and person for the younger or more inexperienced players to look up to and learn a thing or too from.

You know, rarely does one get the opportunity to be involved and witness matches like these. It was an incredible game for so many different reasons and sent me and just about everybody else from one end of the emotional spectrum to the next. This one was special, like really special.

QPR Ladies 13:1 Old Actonians

I was really interested in this game despite it being a friendly match for a couple of reasons. This season we’d signed Carla Williams and Suze Wylie, both of whom had played for the Acton the previous season.

Before the match, that posed many questions to me. How did the departure of these two players affect this team and were their players in general on a similar level to them? It was a chance to try and understand what the experience has been like for them and I got some answers early doors.

QPR 1:1 Coventry

qpr1-1coventry

Today was an unusual match for me, because despite the excitement at seeing some of our new signings in action, my Uncle sadly passed away at sudden notice yesterday. Football would usually be the last thing on your mind at a time like this, but equally it can be a great distraction too.

QPR 0:0 Burnley

qpr0-0burnley

I heard Paolo Sousa’s comments after the game where he said our first and second phase of play was good, but after that, we didn’t do anything in the final phase, which means of course that we didn’t create much going forward.

I totally agree with that, and felt very much the same while I was watching and sensed at times that there was almost a reluctance for us to choose certain options when we knew which player would end up in possession of the ball.
