QPR 0:0 Wolves

Clocking up points is what it’s all about and another one here sets us up nicely for the Christmas run-in.

It’s hard to judge games like these. Was it a fair result? Should Wolves had won given Stephen Elliott’s glaring miss or did we deserve to win for trying to take the game to them and get all three points?

More importantly perhaps, I was pleased to see Zesh Rehman playing well and with a little more confidence than normal. Some people don’t realise that he’s naturally a centre-back and not a right-back. His attributes are far better suited to a central defender and today he read the game well and his timing when meeting the ball was better. Sometimes he gets that part wrong, where you can sometimes see what’s going on in his mind but his execution is off.

Playing games helps build mental sharpness as well as fitness though and he’s benefited from a couple of good performances, and that in turn, has boosted his confidence. Go Zesh! He will of course still struggle against the very quick and nimble players, or the intelligent ones who know how to pull him out of position, but it’s nice to see him not being booed and he got some deserved applause for some tackles he put in, particularly that slide challenge in the first-half.

…and just when you think he’s not got anything left in the tank, Gareth Ainsworth pops up with another performance that defies this man’s age and body. He was really inspirational in the way he drove on forward and got stuck in. He may frustrate the hell out of me and those on the pitch with him with his decision making sometimes, but this was a really good performance from him.

As for Dexter, he’s going through the motions a little bit. It’s not quite there for him yet and he doesn’t look as comfortable as you want him to be. He needs some goals, he needs some games and he needs more of the ball.
