Thanks for everything John
Whilst I battle away and try to catch up with the blog entries for the past two games, the club decided to sack John Gregory as manager this morning.
It’s not surprising that the club have decided to sack John Gregory due to the results and performances this season, but I still think it’s a crying shame and I’m not sure it’s the right solution at this time.
I don’t think anybody else will do too much better or too much worse than Gregory did with the current crop of players. We’re lacking in ability, quality and strength in depth, so it’s always going to be a struggle regardless of who is in charge.
The current team, bar Mikele Leigertwood, is the one we’ve somehow mustered together when on the brink of administration. Therefore it’s no surprise to see us struggling again and at the start of the season, I’d have taken anything but relegation, even if so many others felt we should be pushing for the play-offs.
I’ll keep this short and simple, because it’s just one of those days when things like this leave me feeling somewhat down.
Thanks John. I really enjoyed the time you were in charge and you performed miracles to keep us up in the Championship last season. You’ve set us on our way again by laying some new foundations that we can build on, and we will be forever grateful for that contribution and I sincerely wished your reign would have lasted longer and worked out for the better, as do many.
You did us very proud and you have nothing to be ashamed of during your time as manager. It’s a tough business as you very well know, but I hope you’re welcomed back to Loftus Road with open arms, because you gave it your all and can be very proud of the work you carried out for us, and as you always said in your programme notes…
No surrender.
Take care and all the best for the future.
